Solve common percentage problems: what is X% of Y, X is what % of Y, and percent change.
Working with percentages
- X% of Y: multiply —
(X ÷ 100) × Y. e.g. 15% of 200 = 30. - X is what % of Y: divide —
(X ÷ Y) × 100. e.g. 30 is 15% of 200. - Percent change:
(new − old) ÷ |old| × 100. A rise from 200 to 230 is a 15% increase.
