How GPA is calculated

Your grade point average weights each course grade by its credit hours:

GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits)

This uses the common U.S. 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on). A three-credit A contributes more to your GPA than a one-credit A, which is why credit-weighting matters.
