Gamma Function Calculator

Use the Gamma function calculator whenever you need to determine values of the Gamma function for real or complex arguments.

The method

Γ(x) extends the factorial; erf(x) integrates the bell curve

Gamma extends the factorial

Γ(n) = (n−1)! for positive integers, but gamma is defined for all real and complex arguments except zero and the negative integers, where it has poles. Γ(½) = √π is the famous non-integer value.

The error function

erf is the integral of the Gaussian, scaled so that it runs from −1 to 1. It is how the normal distribution’s cumulative probability is actually computed, since that integral has no elementary form.
